Cuz I've been spinning so much :) Well... Not that much. But enough that I have a fair bit of new stuff to show off. How's that?
Before I show off anything though, I have to say - my spinning is improving. Definitely. I think I can pretty consistently spin a 2-ply (sport to) worsted weight yarn. Which is an improvement over the fingering to bulky 2-ply I was managing before. I have a problem though. It may be inexperience, it may be that I still use short-draw (worsted)... But my yarn is heavy! One of the yarns I've just finished started with 2 oz of proper roving (so I should have tried long-draw/woolen...). I ended up with about 70 yards of yarn. But it's not very thick yarn.
Even worse: merino-alpaca "combed top" ended up with about 30 yards from about 40g of fibre. It was navajo-plied, which makes a huge difference though. (I guess 90 yards from 40g isn't so bad) ((I am SOOOOO in love with this yarn!))
And then there's been the "unique" spinning. This is my first yarn to be named. I'm not even nearly done spinning the batt yet, but it already has a name. My next post should be soon, and should be showing off the yarn and sharing the name :) Patience is a virtue!
