The Cons won by a (not-so-expressed-in-the-comments) landslide! No votes for the green shoes, except my mom who says "Keep them both". Hee hee.
Um, so today, instead of writing an essay about how to evaluate information resources, I knit a hat. Using some CosmicPluto handspun I bought on etsy. I'm very happy, because it matches my coat. It's lacey, so it's not really winter-tastic, but it will certainly be warm enough for the milder fall/winter weather. (and really, I wear a Red Heart acrylic hat all winter long... my first hat, actually.)
Here is Madge:
(this goofy picture took me seven tries. I kept missing my head. somehow)
and not being worn:
And joy, I only used about 40g out of 130g, so my nefarious plans for a neck-warmer tube and (possibly) handwarmers may be carried out. The yarn claimed to be about 10 wpi, so I knit the hat over 70 stitches using size 10.5 needles, and it's just right. For the neck-tube, I'm considering a ruffle at the top and/or bottom with 2 pattern repeats in the middle, on size 11s, I think. Is that too much of the same pattern? Should it maybe just be stockinette with a ruffle? I really want a ruffle. Ha ha, I could pick up stitches and add a hat ruffle too.
Anyways, this yarn was awesome to knit with. There were a few places where it may have been like sport weight, and a few places that were poofy, but it was just such a pleasant knitting experience, soft and yummy. The cast-on edge experienced a good deal of knitting and ripping, and it never got upset, so I'm happy.

The hat looks great. I think you should do the pattern on the neck warmer, the yarn is so colorful anyway...and I would want it to match the "laciness" of the hat. Good job!
