It's all about the socks!

I finished (quite modified)Lickety Split socks today!

Woooo! They fit very well, and seem like they will be quite comfortable.
So I started these very soon after the new Knitty came out and finished today. Well, I still need cute buttons, but the knitting is done and they are wearable.
So modifications and thoughts: I made them shorter than recommended, because they feel like summer socks, and I am so not wearing warm, tall, wool socks in the summer. I omitted the intarsia because I made the socks shorter, and intarsia is not yet pleasing enough to me to use on a sock(unless it's argyle, but that's still far in the future). I didn't use the toe and heel instructions because I didn't quite like them. After using the figure 8 cast on I see no reason to do a provisional cast on for toe-up socks (if there is a reason to use the other methods, let me know!). So instead I cast on the number for the manly sock (the measurements seemed more appropriate...) and knit 2 rounds, then started increasing as described. For the heels, I just used the backwards YO short row thing instead, because it's actually getting nicer looking for me.
Other modifications: I realized they were going to be gigantic in the manly size, so decreased down to the womanly size. That would still have been big and baggy over my (excessively high) arches, so I knit some 2x2 ribbing to pull it in a bit. It worked, I think, and is nice and snug. I will possibly add a picture of that later.
(edited to add pictures of the buttons and the arch shaping)

Overall, a very fun knit!

(ha ha. oh yes! it's time for new socks, and what shall they be! my mom saw me going through Knitting Vintage Socks with post-it notes, marking all the socks I like with wool that could work well... she was possibly horrified... any suggestions? I think my lovely Dyepal wool has waited long enough - the handpaint is marked as a possibility for Little Child's Sock from knitting Vintage socks... fun!)

Adrienne these socks are so great and so fun! I love the colors too. They make me think of foot mittens. :)
